PERFORM UNDER PRESSURE

Advanced preparation and support for senior executives, emerging leaders and those navigating greater responsibility.

A structured leadership pathway that prepares individuals for the demands of greater responsibility, then supports them as they apply their judgement, communication and leadership in real situations.

WHY THE PATHWAY MATTERS

Pressure does not simply test capability.

It changes how people think, communicate and decide.

As responsibility increases, the demands placed on judgement, communication and composure become more complex.

Capable people may find themselves making decisions with incomplete information, managing competing expectations and leading others while under sustained pressure themselves.

Technical expertise and experience remain essential, but they do not always prepare someone for the personal and interpersonal demands that accompany greater responsibility.

Perform Under Pressure provides structured preparation before those demands intensify, together with individual support as they begin to apply the learning in practice.

Pressure reveals existing habits. Preparation creates better ones.

WHAT THE PATHWAY DEVELOPS

Greater awareness. Stronger judgement. More assured leadership.

Perform Under Pressure develops the capabilities needed to think clearly, communicate effectively and remain composed when expectations are high.

AWARENESS

01

02

Recognise the habits, assumptions and pressures shaping your thinking, behaviour and decision-making.

JUDGEMENT

Assess situations more clearly, weigh competing demands and make considered decisions when information is incomplete.

COMMUNICATION

Communicate with greater clarity, intention and authority, particularly when conversations are difficult or expectations are high.

05

03

04

COMPOSURE

Manage pressure more deliberately and respond with greater steadiness when circumstances become demanding.

SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE

Maintain effectiveness over time without allowing urgency, scrutiny or responsibility to erode judgement, relationships or wellbeing.

The pathway strengthens not only what someone knows, but how effectively they apply it when it matters.

WHEN THE PATHWAY MAY BE VALUABLE

The transition into greater responsibility changes more than the role itself.

01

Preparing for promotion or a more consequential role.

03

High capability is not yet translating consistently when expectations are high.

Perform Under Pressure may be valuable when someone is preparing to step up, already carrying greater expectation or finding that pressure is beginning to affect how they think, communicate or lead.

02

Moving into a role with greater visibility, scrutiny or responsibility

05

Leading through uncertainty, change or competing demands.

04

Pressure is beginning to affect judgement, communication or composure.

06

Preparing top talent before the demands of leadership intensify.

07

Needing a structured way to strengthen performance without waiting for difficulties to arise.

WHAT MAKES THE PATHWAY DIFFERENT

Structured preparation. Individual application. Continuing support.

Perform Under Pressure combines a clear developmental structure with confidential one-to-one support.

The learning introduces practical ideas, tools and approaches. The individual conversations then connect them directly to the participant’s role, circumstances and current pressures.

This means the pathway is neither abstract learning removed from real responsibility, nor a series of conversations without a clear developmental direction.

NOT A GENERIC COURSE

This pathway is shaped around the realities of leadership, pressure and greater responsibility.

The supportive structure creates direction. The individual relationship makes it relevant.

NOT COACHING IN ISOLATION

Individual conversations are part of a wider structured pathway, rather than disconnected sessions without continuity or shared direction.

HOW THE PATHWAY WORKS

A structured pathway, applied to real circumstances.

Perform Under Pressure combines structured preparation with individual support at every stage.

The pathway is designed to build understanding before responsibility intensifies, then continue supporting the participant as they apply the learning in real situations.

Each conversation is shaped around the participant’s current role, circumstances and pressures, so the work remains practical, relevant and personal.

PHASE ONE

STRUCTURED PREPARATION

An introductory one-to-one conversation, followed by five structured learning pillars.

Each pillar is followed by an individual session to reflect on the learning, consider its relevance and apply it to the participant’s circumstances.

PHASE TWO

CONTINUING INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT

Six further one-to-one conversations provide continuing support as responsibility develops and new situations arise.

The focus is shaped by the participant’s real circumstances rather than by a prescribed agenda.

Structured enough to create direction. Flexible enough to remain relevant.

Personal in its application. Clear in its boundaries.

INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION

The structured learning provides a shared foundation, but the individual conversations focus on the participant’s own role, circumstances and current pressures.

Each session provides space to reflect on the learning, test its relevance and consider how it applies to real decisions, relationships and leadership situations.

The work is shaped around the individual rather than delivered through a fixed coaching formula.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND SPONSORING

The individual conversations are conducted on a confidential basis.

Where the pathway is commissioned by an organisation, the boundaries of confidentiality and any agreed reporting are made clear at the outset.

Personal details or the content of individual conversations are not shared with a sponsor without the participant’s clear permission, subject to legal and professional obligations.

Any organisational feedback should focus on participation, progress against agreed objectives or broader themes, rather than the private content of the relationship.

A clear boundary between organisational purpose and individual confidentiality protects trust, openness and the quality of the work.

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT AND CONFIDENTIALITY

PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS

Designed to fit around significant responsibility.

Perform Under Pressure is delivered through self-paced structured learning and confidential one-to-one conversations.

The timing and pace are agreed around the participant’s role, responsibilities and operational demands.

The pathway may be commissioned for an individual or used as part of a wider leadership preparation, promotion or transition arrangement.

HOW IT IS DELIVERED

Five structured learning pillars, each followed by an individual one-to-one conversation.

Six further one-to-one conversations provide continuing support through Phase Two.

TIMING AND PACE

The pathway is arranged around the participant’s responsibilities and completed at a pace that allows time for reflection and practical application.

The number of participants is deliberately limited to protect the quality, continuity and individual attention at the heart of the pathway.

ORGANISATIONAL ENGAGEMENTS

The pathway may be commissioned for one individual or for a small number of selected leaders. Any organisational objectives, sponsorship arrangements and agreed reporting are clarified at the outset.

CLIENT PERSPECTIVE

“Working with John challenged how I think about leadership, helping me simplify complexity, improve operational flow and maintain composure under stress.

The impact extended beyond me, creating greater alignment and efficiency across the team and strengthening our overall performance and resilience.”

PERFORM UNDER PRESSURE

Preparing someone for greater responsibility begins before the pressure becomes real.

An initial conversation provides an opportunity to consider the individual, the responsibility they are preparing for and whether Perform Under Pressure would be the right fit.
